Spark Coverage Cup

Media relations is at the heart of a successful campaign and our team take great pride in beating their colleagues to win the weekly Spark Coverage Cup vote.

The winning piece of coverage isn’t just about circulation or credibility. A great business national or broadcast piece doesn’t always beat trade coverage – outcomes are key. How effectively was the client’s message communicated? What was the engagement like? Did it result in leads?

While earned coverage is now only part of what we do, the impact of what we deliver is often why clients choose to work with us in the first place. It’s why 80% of our clients come through referral and why some of our clients have stayed with us for over ten years.

Below are some of our previous highlights:

Coverage Cup 15/11/2024

We’re back with another Coverage Cup round-up!

Starting with a bang, the Kainos team landed coverage in BBC News Online after Kainos’ Director of Green Software spoke with Sean McManus on how green software can drive major carbon savings. The team originally pitched Sean in April in the run up to Earth Day, and kept in touch to arrange an interview a few months later to discuss why business needs a culture that prioritises sustainability.

Hot on Kainos’ heels, the Camunda team secured coverage in Forbes following the launch of its new AI and automation capabilities and highlighting Camunda’s mission to eradicate automation silos. With Camunda’s bi-annual conference underway, the timing of the Forbes coverage was ideal.

Meanwhile, the ‘AI for Business 2024’ report by Raconteur and The Times highlighted Cypher Learning’s research, which revealed a quarter of employees use GenAI at work—whether or not their boss has signed off on it. Cypher’s CEO and Founder advises organisations to take a balanced approach to training on technologies such as AI, as it’s not a necessity for all employees.

Teams have also been busy pitching expert insights on the recent implementation of NIS2. In IT Pro, Qodea and Infinigate were both featured with comments on why organisations need to start the implementation process sooner rather than later, and the need to prioritise supply chain security. The Qodea team scored a second hit in Computer Weekly, highlighting the importance of understanding the directive’s granular definition of who is accountable for the regulation.

The WalkMe team also hijacked Gartner’s prediction that global IT spending will reach $5.74 trillion in 2025, driven largely by GenAI. WalkMe’s view that the real winners in this gold rush will be those ‘selling the shovels’ landed coverage in key trade publications Silicon and Comms Business.

Pitching of client events generated strong coverage recently too. IT Pro reported on Venafi’s annual Machine Identity Summit in Boston, where industry leaders discussed preparing for the arrival of quantum computing. Meanwhile, Computer Weekly took readers inside the Dynatrace Innovate event in Amsterdam, which showcased how Dynatrace is expanding observability beyond IT operations.

Last but not least, the SaaScada and Camunda teams secured a wave of coverage in the finance press. SaaScada was featured in Finance Derivative and Fintech Finance News for providing the technology behind Sunshine+Kittens’ new children’s bank account. Meanwhile, Camunda’s partnership with Rabobank to enhance the bank’s internal efficiency and customer experience appeared in FS tech, Finextra, and IBS Intelligence.
