Spark Coverage Cup

Media relations is at the heart of a successful campaign and our team take great pride in beating their colleagues to win the weekly Spark Coverage Cup vote.

The winning piece of coverage isn’t just about circulation or credibility. A great business national or broadcast piece doesn’t always beat trade coverage – outcomes are key. How effectively was the client’s message communicated? What was the engagement like? Did it result in leads?

While earned coverage is now only part of what we do, the impact of what we deliver is often why clients choose to work with us in the first place. It’s why 80% of our clients come through referral and why some of our clients have stayed with us for over ten years.

Below are some of our previous highlights:

Coverage Cup 23/10/2024

We’ve had a particularly strong few weeks of cybersecurity-related coverage. First and foremost, Panaseer and CIISec both appeared in a BBC News Online feature about careers in cybersecurity. The piece came as a result of a proactive pitch to BBC reporter Sean McManus for a story around people transitioning to a career in cybersecurity. Having built the idea out further based on the journalist’s feedback, the teams then provided relevant security professionals for him to interview. This included a former astrophysicist who is now Lead Security Data Scientist at Panaseer, and quotes from CIISec explaining how many people possess the skills needed to excel in cybersecurity but are unaware of the opportunities that exist. The CIISec team also built on these insights to develop a thought leadership article which was subsequently published by TEISS.

We’ve also been setting up briefings in recent weeks to discuss a range of cybersecurity topics. First off, Venafi spoke to IT Pro at its recent Machine Identity Summit, resulting in not one, but three written pieces. This included separate stories about security challenges posed by AI agents, AI data protection, and end-to-end security management.

Elsewhere, at the Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit, Red Canary’s CEO spoke to Infosecurity Magazine about its recent Security Operations Trends Report. The research warns that despite budgets continuing to increase, security leaders are struggling to keep pace with the expanding attack surface. The team also secured a hit with the IT press with BetaNews writing up an analysis piece on the research.

As always, research continues to be a huge coverage driver for our clients. The Vectra team secured coverage in both Tech Radar Pro and Beta News with research warning that security pros are failing to identify attacks due to having to deal with an overload of alerts.
