Spark Coverage Cup

Media relations is at the heart of a successful campaign and our team take great pride in beating their colleagues to win the weekly Spark Coverage Cup vote.

The winning piece of coverage isn’t just about circulation or credibility. A great business national or broadcast piece doesn’t always beat trade coverage – outcomes are key. How effectively was the client’s message communicated? What was the engagement like? Did it result in leads?

While earned coverage is now only part of what we do, the impact of what we deliver is often why clients choose to work with us in the first place. It’s why 80% of our clients come through referral and why some of our clients have stayed with us for over ten years.

Below are some of our previous highlights:

Coverage Cup 11/12/2023

We’re starting this week’s Coverage Cup round-up with a warning for anybody ordering Christmas presents online. Quadient’s recent FOI request made to police forces found a growing number of parcels are being stolen by “porch pirates”, with reports of parcel theft up 500% in four years.

This story resonated strongly with journalists. Highlights included retail columnist and TV personality Harry Wallop using the stats as part of a column in the Financial Times, and a full-length feature article by Rosa Silverman in The Telegraph. The team also secured news pieces in The Times, Mail Online and The Mirror, before BBC Radio Five Live listeners debated the findings and their own experiences of parcel theft as part of a phone-in show on Black Friday.

Elsewhere, Ivalua’s latest research appeared in Bloomberg’s ‘Supply Lines’ newsletter after the team pitched figures revealing businesses are taking longer to pay suppliers than they did 12 months ago. Meanwhile, Imperva featured in a City A.M. story on election hacking. The team jumped quickly on a National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) report to pitch comment warning that the number of bots is on the rise and could impact the next General Election.

We have also been consistently generating news coverage with enterprise IT press. CTS’ survey on Generative AI was covered by BetaNews, news of Hexaware’s new Birmingham office was written up by Computer Weekly and IT Pro, and Cloudera’s research on IT leaders’ data management problems was published by Information Age, BetaNews and Tech Radar.

We also saw great collaborative work between our Ivalua and Quadient teams, who identified an opportunity to comment on a government announcement on late payments in the Autumn Statement, securing coverage in Electronic Payments International.

Events have also been a feature of our pitching recently. At the annual CIISec Live conference held at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, our CIISec team secured coverage with Infosecurity. The journalist covered some of the talks during the event, including one on how the security team at the University of Manchester worked through three phases to remediate and recover from a cyber-attack earlier in the year. And in London, NetDocuments hosted its own event for legal IT professionals. Legal IT Insider attended and wrote a lengthy piece on a number of law firms that have adopted NetDocuments technology.
