Spark Coverage Cup

Media relations is at the heart of a successful campaign and our team take great pride in beating their colleagues to win the weekly Spark Coverage Cup vote.

The winning piece of coverage isn’t just about circulation or credibility. A great business national or broadcast piece doesn’t always beat trade coverage – outcomes are key. How effectively was the client’s message communicated? What was the engagement like? Did it result in leads?

While earned coverage is now only part of what we do, the impact of what we deliver is often why clients choose to work with us in the first place. It’s why 80% of our clients come through referral and why some of our clients have stayed with us for over ten years.

Below are some of our previous highlights:

Coverage Cup 04/02/2025

We’ve got 2025 off to an impressive start, with standout media coverage across a variety of key media titles. PacBio led the charge with a Financial Times ‘Letter to the Editor’ advocating for stronger pathogen surveillance to prevent pandemics, in response to a story on monitoring zoonotic threats.

Continuing with national coverage, Quadient’s ‘porch pirates’ Police FOI data on parcel theft featured on BBC News Online. The team behind TV show Rip Off Britain used the stats as part of an episode investigating stolen packages and how thieves are disabling doorbell security cameras.

Imperva added to the conversation of online shopping risks with a piece in the Independent, warning ‘grinch bots’ are using AI to purchase the most in-demand presents and re-sell at inflated prices. Grinches weren’t the only threat we’ve been raising the alarm about – our inboxes are also under threat, according to HP Wolf research. Our team secured a hit in Forbes with the news that attackers are targeting email inboxes by hiding malicious code in images. Beyond these virtual risks, the Quadient team has also been warning of the real-world impact that flooding will have on homeowners and insurers, securing coverage in Actuarial Post.

Meanwhile, several Spark teams collaborated on responding to the rollout of the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), exploring the impact on banks and wider financial services. Bobsguide featured a variety of opinion from Cloudera, Panaseer and Dynatrace, while Retail Banker International ran a story with insight from Dynatrace and Ivalua.

Client predictions for 2025 are still resonating with the media. Vectra highlighted the need for vigilance against AI-driven cyber threats in TechInformed, alongside a prediction from Couchbase that agentic AI will play a key role in the evolution of AI throughout the year.

WalkMe shared insights on the effects of GenAI for hyperproductivity in AI Business, NetDocuments secured coverage in TechRound with comment explaining how AI will create opportunities for lawyers, rather than replace them, and Huntsman addressed data centre security challenges in SC Media. SecurityWeek also included expert perspectives from Red Canary and Venafi in its annual outlook on machine and human identities. Last but not least, PacBio’s 2025 predictions for developments in the world of genomics were published by Manufacturing Chemist.

Finally, we’ve kicked off the year with some strong bylined article placements. Hexaware’s guide to ensuring cultural alignment during international expansion was published by HR Director, while Camunda’s deep-dive on the growing importance of data orchestration appeared as a guest blog on Computer Weekly.
