Spark Coverage Cup
Media relations is at the heart of a successful campaign and our team take great pride in beating their colleagues to win the weekly Spark Coverage Cup vote.
The winning piece of coverage isn’t just about circulation or credibility. A great business national or broadcast piece doesn’t always beat trade coverage – outcomes are key. How effectively was the client’s message communicated? What was the engagement like? Did it result in leads?
While earned coverage is now only part of what we do, the impact of what we deliver is often why clients choose to work with us in the first place. It’s why 80% of our clients come through referral and why some of our clients have stayed with us for over ten years.
Below are some of our previous highlights:
Coverage Cup 02/09/2024
As summer begins to draw to a close, Spark’s media relations skills have been shining as brightly as ever. Where else to start but a broadcast interview for Dynatrace’s CEO with CNBC Europe, discussing the recent CrowdStrike outage. The team used the hook of the five-year anniversary of Dynatrace's IPO to illustrate how the company has been purpose-built to help organisations deal with outages. We didn’t stop there as Dynatrace also appeared in a Computer Weekly feature on the European Union’s NIS2 cyber security bill, and outlined the extent of the UK channel’s AI expertise in Microscope.
We’ve also been successfully pitching a number of research stories. A Cloudera study highlighted how a skills gap and lack of proper infrastructure is hindering AI adoption with the study being written up by BetaNews, Tech Radar Pro, and Digit.FYI. Our HP team pitched research warning of nation state threats to physical device supply chains, securing coverage in Infosecurity Magazine, Tech Radar Pro, SC Magazine, and Digitalisation World. Meanwhile WalkMe’s data showing half of office workers say AI has not improved the quality of their work was included in an IT Pro story about IT leaders’ concern about generative AI ROI.
Finance-related stories have also been the flavour of the month over the last few weeks. Firstly, preparation paid off for our Quadient team who drafted commentary ready to pitch out for a Consumer Duty deadline, securing pieces in Retail Banker International and Finextra. SaaScada’s customer Allica Bank briefed Retail Banker International about SME banking tech, and Ivalua comment on data strategies and Source-to-Pay platforms appeared in Procurement Magazine.
On life sciences, our Pistoia Alliance team secured a Q&A with Technology Networks, exploring its research on the trustworthiness of AI. Meanwhile, Phesi’s CEO was interviewed in The Clinical Trial Vanguard, discussing the innovative use of AI-driven digital twins and data privacy measures, and Elsevier secured coverage in TechInformed with comment highlighting a lack of transparency in AI when it comes to drug creation.
Last but not least, we’ve had a number of thought leadership pieces published across the tech press. BetaNews published a Vectra byline on hybrid attackers, and a DCS byline on multi-cloud network security. The Scalable team secured a byline in TechRadar Pro outlining IT’s role in boosting productivity, while Huntsman discussed the evolving role of the CISO in SC Media.
