Spark Coverage Cup

Media relations is at the heart of a successful campaign and our team take great pride in beating their colleagues to win the weekly Spark Coverage Cup vote.

The winning piece of coverage isn’t just about circulation or credibility. A great business national or broadcast piece doesn’t always beat trade coverage – outcomes are key. How effectively was the client’s message communicated? What was the engagement like? Did it result in leads?

While earned coverage is now only part of what we do, the impact of what we deliver is often why clients choose to work with us in the first place. It’s why 80% of our clients come through referral and why some of our clients have stayed with us for over ten years.

Below are some of our previous highlights:

Coverage Cup 04/01/2024

We’re riding high into the new year on the crest of a national media coverage wave secured at the end of 2023. Quadient’s recent FOI request regarding parcel theft continued to capture national interest, with The Telegraph using the findings for a second time in a story on missing bank cards. The story was then discussed by consumer expert Alice Beer on hit ITV show This Morning. And The Express subsequently published a story on the segment and what consumers can do when a parcel is stolen by “porch pirates”. Talk about a domino effect!

Elsewhere, the Sagacity team secured inclusion in The Times’ business section after hijacking news that Ofwat is urging water suppliers to publicise support available to people who are struggling. The story cited Sagacity’s research showing just 6% of billpayers consider asking for help.

We also had an exciting double hit in The Times/Raconteur Cybersecurity and Prevention report. This included Imperva’s research on internal data threats, and a double-page infographic devoted to CIISec’s Member Survey stats on burnout.

Elsewhere, Quadient and Cloudera also appeared in The Times/Raconteur supplements. Quadient shared advice on how businesses can prevent a cash flow crisis in The Future of Finance report. Cloudera was quoted in the Digital Transformation report, on the lack of flexibility facing organisations when it comes to moving between the major cloud providers.

Rounding off our flurry of national coverage, comments from PacBio appeared in a hard-hitting story in The Telegraph, explaining how genomics is tracking malaria in Africa – and how genomic sequencing can help to control infectious disease outbreaks.
