Scrumconnect’s CEO set us a bold challenge: to get the company’s Newcastle office launch featured on the BBC. But office openings rarely make the headlines, especially for brands that aren’t yet widely recognised. To achieve BBC coverage, we needed to humanise the story and find ways to amplify its relevance.

We started by uncovering the human impact of the launch – a £40 million investment and 150 new jobs in Newcastle. This gave us a solid foundation, but to amplify it further we placed the launch within the bigger picture of North East devolution and Newcastle’s emergence as a thriving tech hub. To add further weight, we secured a supporting quote from Chi Onwurah, Labour MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central, and developed tailored pitches for regional and technology media, including pinpointing the best contacts to get us that all-important BBC article.
Impact
We achieved our number one objective of a BBC News Online write-up of Scrumconnect’s investment and expansion in the North East. We also secured additional coverage in titles including TechUK, TechMarketView, Newcastle Chronicle, The Journal, Business Live, Northern Echo, North East Business Insider and Prolific North – raising awareness of Scrumconnect with both regional and national target audiences.
